Wandering the Streets: Erfurt, Germany

My nephew Donnie's eldest child, Debbie, just started university this fall. She's attending the university in Ilmenau which is not far from Erfurt. I left Bayreuth and traveled north into the neighboring state of Thuringia to Ilmenau to see Debbie. After seeing her dorm room, we drove east to Erfurt for some sightseeing and dinner.

My 365-Day Photo Project Keeps Me Focused on Image Making

The "focus" pun is not intended. Seriously! Today marks Day 321 in my 2016 365-Day photography project. My approach to these annual challenge projects probably differs from many. My goal is simply to end the year with 365 (366 this year because of leap year) images that I've posted to Flickr, Instagram, and Facebook. One for each day of the year.

The Peak Design Clutch Wrist Strap

I love wrist straps over shoulder straps for my cameras. Though I bought into the BosStrap system - and like it! - I started using my old SunPak wrist strap on my Olympus OM-D E-M1 camera because it is a bit more beefy than the BosStrap “tail” that goes over your wrist. Wandering the Streets: Regensburg, Germany

So, though I had been to the city several times in the past, it was the first on my list of cities to visit on this trip.

Wandering the Streets Series

Over the past year to 18 months I have found that I do enjoy shooting what I see when walking around new and familiar cities. “Street Shooting” is not a genre of photography I ever thought I’d be interested in pursuing, but I was wrong! Starting on my own maybe two years ago, I experimented with photographing people surreptitiously while my wife was shopping. When I went to my first Out of Chicago Photo Conference in June 2015, I went on several photowalks specifically to get a feel for what folks got out of street photography.

Time to Clean Out My Lens & Bag Collections

Why keep equipment you're not using? Right? Thinking about buying something new always makes me consider what I have that I can sell to help pay for a new purchase. And so it is with my lenses and bags. Maybe I can even make enough money from the sale of those items I don’t use or rarely use so I can keep my trusty ole Olympus OM-D E-M1 camera. Hmmm? Now that’s interesting.
