We all doodle and make marks on paper from time to time. And most of us wish we could do more. Make “real” drawings that look like what we see before us. Well, guess what? YOU CAN!
In this class/workshop, we will review the basics of drawing shapes and forms, including how to shade objects but we will immediately jump into drawing things around us. Tables, chairs, bowls, glasses, anything we can see. Then we will move onto trees, parking meters, in fact, anything we can see on the street or through the window. Drawing is like any skill where you only improve through practice!
Whether a beginner or someone with much drawing experience you will have fun in this class. We’ll review drawing shapes and creating tones using shading. Since practice helps one improve, we will spend all of our time drawing and painting things we see around us. We’ll cover primary colors and color mixing to create many colors from a limited palette. You’ll use pens with water-soluble ink as well as permanent ink pens with watercolor. You will draw and paint on-location in public “urban sketching style.”
Depending on the season and the weather, we will meet at an announced location on the streets in downtown Lynchburg, VA. We may occasionally meet in a downtown library meeting room or the Community Market.
12 hours of hands-on instruction offered in a 2-day workshop format or as four 3-hour long sessions over several days or weeks. Small classes (3-10) offered on demand. Interested?
