About Me

I have 54 years experience working in the field of education (German, history, instructional technology, photography & sketching). I have taught photography courses for the past ten years though it has been a hobby of mine for many years. I’ve been teaching sketching and watercolor painting, both traditional and digital (using Procreate on an iPad), for two years. Helping people learn how to take full advantage of their available tools to better express themselves, whether that is a cell phone camera, high end single lens reflex camera, or pen, pencil and watercolor gives me great enjoyment.

Retired, I also spend a good bit of my time practicing photography and videography as well as sketching around our hometown of Lynchburg, Virginia. Through my two blogs (sketching and photography), I share what I learn myself, what gear and tools I use, and how I use it. Follow my posts and see if my experiences and mistakes help you learn.

I also share my experiences on my YouTube channel. Contact me if you’re interested in learning more about my one-on-one photography classes or my sketching and watercolor classes, both in-person and online.
